Belo Medical Group is No. 1 in the world for Thermage
Friday, October 17th, 2008The Belo Medical Group, led by noted dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon Dr. Vicki Belo, has finally merited an international recognition it rightfully deserves. Dr. Belo’s wide experience in the medical field recently earned her the enviable citation from Thermage International as the number one doctor in the world who has the most number of thermage patients.
The award is both an honor and a dream come true for the Belo Medical Group, which is celebrating its 18th anniversary this year with a current thrust to put Philippine medical tourism on the map and turn the Philippines into “the beauty capital of Asia.” The recognition also proves that Filipino doctors are now at par with other international medical practitioners when it comes to cosmetic dermatology, a specialized, world-class industry.
Mr. Gary Wilson, Thermage International’s Vice President for International Sales, flew in to Manila last January to personally confer the award to Dr. Vicki Belo and the Belo Medical Group for having the most number of thermage cases worldwide for 2006, besting over 2,000 physicians from other countries, including the United States, Europe and Asia.
Thermage International is the renowned medical device company responsible for breakthroughs in radio frequency technology through its patented ThermaCool device. Along with the thermage award, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery also presented Dr. Belo with a $10,000 medical grant for marketing and research.
Approved by the US FDA in November 2002, thermage is now available in over 70 countries. In fact, it is estimated that over 275,000 procedures have been performed with the ThermaCool device and Belo has contributed to many of those procedures in the past two years.
